Pass the $10 Popcorn, Baby!
Tomorrow, the fifty-dollar movie trips begin!
Seriously, I can't wait. I was such a movie Scrooge for so long, what with a bunch of little girls running around who didn't really care about sitting and watching the movie anyway....
But no more. My babies are teens and tweens and love to go, and I've decide the joy I get out of the big screen makes it worth the moola (this month, anyway). It's part of my Christmas fun.
The Golden Compass is the second in our movie bonanza. Enchanted was our first....can I tell you how much I loved that movie??? Just sweet and fun and romantic as well. Two buttered thumbs up!
Then darling Alvin and the Chipmunks is coming..... and National Treasure II. Finally, a heroine as awesome as the hero, and a magnificent sidekick as well.
Finally, the Water Horse will open Christmas Day. We've done Christmas afternoon movies before. My most romantic Christmas ever was alone with my husband in a snow covered Nebraska town, in a deserted theater ..... yes, I love the quiet times in the holidays.
So? Fess Up! Which one is your favorite? Or am I the only one who's spending her holiday in a dark theater? :)

I'm with you, Gillian! I think the only one I won't end up seeing is the Chipmunks.
We always catch at least one, which is saying a lot with two ADHD type kids.
Oh we haven't seen enchanted yet! It's so hard to find the time. National Treasure is at the top of my list. My mom is a huge Alvin fan, so we might try and catch that with all the kids on opening day. I haven't heard of Dark Horse and haven't seen much on The Golden Compass. I'll have to check them out.
Talk about mooola, I've got a big family.
Ooops sorry that's The Water Horse, not Dark Horse. It looks very interesting.
Hi guys!
I have some really fond memories of Alvin and the Chipmunks and the holidays. I have that Xmas record from childhood. Hope they don't mess up the movie! :)
We have high hopes for Water Horse.
We sometimes went to the movies on Christmas Day after a big lunch when the kids were little. I'd load up everything in the dishwasher and off we'd go. My son wasn't too happy about seeing Little Women one year, but with 3 sisters, what did he expect? *g* I'm really awfully antsy in the movies now, but will try to get in at least one during my school break.
I haven't been to a movie in ages (two toddlers, you know), but I hear such great things about Enchanted, I'm going to make a point to see it. I'm a sucker for movies like that.
I think the last movie I saw in the theatre was Becoming Jane and I absolutely loved it. I really love going to the movies, but the nearest Rave is over 20 miles away so I just don't go that much. I tend to wait until they come out on DVD. I bought Amazing Grace when it came out and STILL have not watched it. I will though. I also have the new Harry Potter and that will be my guilty pleasure on Tuesday, my only day off this week. All of the films on your list sound great, Gillian. And oh, Renee, I definitely want to see National Treasure. Loved the first one!
Hi Gillian, we're going to see Sweeney Todd. I'm trying to get my BF to go to Enchanted. I may have to go by myself...
Happy holidays!
Maggie, aren't "school break" the sweetest words?
Tessa, I hope your family has the best time ever on that cruise :)
Doglady--love ya, sweetie! Harry is my serious guilty pleasure as well, I love to listen to him in the car.
Lenora--you will love Enchanted. Please let me know about Sweeney T.--I know I'll be waiting til DVD for that one.
Merry Christmas, everyone!! ;)
Just caught JUNO and loved it so much I came home and emailed Tessa and CM about it. Okay, it doesn't actually take a lot to get me to email Tessa and CM, but seriously it was great. Loved the story, the characters and the dialogue was fantastic. It's not for little ones though.
India, I had to go look this up to know what you were talking about and then I thought, "Oh! That's the movie my fourteen year old is wanting to see!"
Glad to know it's a winner. :)
