Favorite Things......

Terry Jo Stone , one of my oh-so-creative critique partners, has a absolutely excellent blog. The colors are beautiful, and although her reading tastes vary widely, she's a font of information and delicious research on all things Western.

Her most recent post asks the question all writers and readers love to answer: What are you reading now and why do you love it? (I'm assuming we all know life is too short to bother with uninspiring books....)

Go post your favorite(s) , and pick up great recommendations for your ever-growing TBR pile.

And thank you, Terry Jo, for keeping historical diversification alive and kickin' !

I love Terry's blog! I just left there. Isn't she creative?

Brilliantly so. And the comedic scenes in her stories are amazing as well!

I'm not reading much of anything right now. It's weird. I'm not sure what's wrong with me. I have a huge TBR right next to me, yet I don't seem to be reaching for anything.

Maybe you've got so much of your own story line percolating that you can't concentrate on anything else now? :)

Happy reading and writing, Gillian. And thanks for recommending Terry's blog! It's great!

I will check out Terry's blog too. I haven't not been yet. :)

I have been reading some of Harlequin's nocturne books. Most recently, I read Rhyannon Byrd's Last Wolf Standing. I plan to buy her next one, which is also on the stands now. I don't usually pick up Harlequins, but I've heard some really good things about their writers in the past year or so, so I thought I'd give it a shot. This book did not disappoint. Lots of steamy sexual tension.

I also have been interested in reading a few more paras as my WIP has a para element and I wanted to see what everyone else is doing. But, I'm not as dark as some of the stuff I've read. Dunno....

Terry Jo sneaking in to whisper into Gillian's ear 'I just changed all the backgrounds on my blog to spring colors. I hope you like green.' ;0)

Seriously, great big thank yous to all of you for stopping by and posting. And a special thanks to Gillian for being such a wonderful friend.

Hi Lee! The same to you. :)

Marnee Jo, I can't say enough good things about Harlequin, the best being the variety they offer! I love Nocturne's, especially Bonnie Vanick's, and I love H.'s American romances. You should check out Lee's books.

I don't think paranormal needs to be super dark to be effective. Good luck with yours!

Terry Jo, my pleasure. :)

I stopped by Terry Jo's blog, too. Look! Scarlet's blogging. Must be a Spring bug. I even left a comment. Goodness, I'm a virtual Chatty Cathy.

I loved the new green as well. It is so bright and welcoming.

Hi Gillian!

I read a lot of historicals, of course, but lately I've also been reading some great contemps. The current HQ Blaze series by Kathleen O'Reilly (sp?) is fabulous - the first, Shaken and Stirred, was released in March, and then Sex, Straight Up is on the shelves now. Both are wonderful romances with absolutely dishy heroes. I was hoping to find an early copy of the May release (Nightcap) in Target yesterday... no luck. :(

Hi Tessa!

How odd--I've been reading harlequin contemps myself. I'm addicted to the Maureen Child Desire series Kings of California, and just bought a couple new titles, Baby on the Run and A Man worth Keeping.

I really enjoy the format, and can't help but try to analyze how they follow a very tight 'formula' of sorts and still come up with an AWESOME story.

I stopped reading Harlequins a couple years ago. Maybe I should go back long enough to try a Nocturne or two.
