The Giddy Joy of Autumn

Oh, how I love, love, LOVE this time of year! Lots of birthdays, my wedding anniversary (20 years! Yes, I married when I was six. *G*) Cool weather, beautiful foliage, yummy comfort food, football games, gathering and shelling walnuts until your fingers are a beautiful brown.

Apples! Apple Cider!

Long walks through the fields and forests of my parent's farm.

Homecoming parades. Tailgate parties!

Visiting the pumpkin patch in search of that perfect jack-o-lantern.

That first fire in the fireplace. . . the first frost on the leaves.

Why do you love Fall? If autumn hasn't captured your heart, what Season brings out the best in you?

Gillian, I love autumn too! I love the food. Pumpkin pie, back to baking. Pot roast and roasted chicken. Apple pie and meatloaf.

I love the smell in the air and the crisp feeling of the breeze. I love sleeping with my windows open and it being a bit chilly.

I love that "chilly" feeling too, Marnee Jo. Love breaking out the sweaters and bundling up.

I hope it stays cool now. I hate it when it bounces back to the high 80's. I want to wear my fall clothes.

Beautiful graphic! My birthday's coming up, so I've always loved the fall because it's all about me, LOL. We've actually had to turn the heat on this week at night in Maine. Some leaves are just starting to turn---can't wait for their glory.

Yup, I hear you, Maggie :). I can't wait to run the heat, but we're not there yet. Probably not til October.

If it keeps raining here we'll have a beautiful fall as well--but it can't compare to New England.

I do love this time of year, however, it hasn't gotten to Hampton Roads yet. It's about 90 and humid here today. It was closer to 95 yesterday. The idea of a chill in the air and a cozy fire are far from my mind.

But one of the things I love about this time of year is that it brings back memories. HS football is huge in my hometown and I started attending games very young. Then I marched in the band. So that chill in the air and the leaves turning always takes me back there.

Now if only fall wasn't followed by winter. LOL!

Hi Terrio!

Weird weather this fall. Those poor people in Texas with the hurricane, and we have low 70's now, and my husband has 90's in Portland, OR. Strange.

Yay for fall! Well, in Florida we only have one season but I still love fall and pretend that I'm having one. The mornings lately have been a tad nippier though. So I'll probably start making my family eat an overabundance of pumpkin products.:)
Great post!

Hi Kelly!
You know, there are plenty of mornings when I wish I was at Florida instead! :)

This is going to sound so lame, but I really look forward to the fall season premieres of my favorite TV shows.

I also have a soft spot for fall desserts. Pumpkin pie with a little dollop of whipped cream. Hot cinnamon-y apple crisp with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Brisk fall walks are great. And much needed, after those desserts :)
